2008 Ride for MDA

We have changed a few things for this years ride. There will still be an organized ride leaving Harley Davidson of Wausau on Saturday morning, but we encourage you to join us already on Friday for a 2 day poker ride. We have added some new stops. There will be live entertainment both Friday and Saturday nights. A 2008 Harley Davidson Fat Bob will be raffled off, along with many other great prizes. Tickets are only $5 each or 5 for $20. It will be on display at Harley Davidson of Wausau and other traveling locations. Tickets will be available at Harley Davidson of Wausau, or you can order them when you register. We are trying to accommodate all requests regarding the traffic problems from last year. Our route avoids all stop lights. The first part of the ride will have controlled intersections using our volunteer Road Captains. After lunch at the Casino, you will then be on your own to the next stops. This means you can leave the Casino when you want to and continue on the ride at your own pace. We will have a stop south east of Wausau, at Corky’s in Shantytown, another one on Lake Du Bay at the Tiki Bar, and a third spot back in Weston at Bullshooter’s. It sounds like these places will all have some of their own special events.

We are trying to make this event a very enjoyable time for all. The hotels around Harley are offering some great specials for both Friday and Saturday nights. Bring the whole family along and stay at The Lodge, our Host hotel, and enjoy the indoor water park. If you are debating about coming because you have small kids and don’t know what to do with them, give me a call and I can help you out. So go ahead and book your room for the weekend and “stay and play” in the Wausau area known as Rothschild. There is also a large mall within walking distance, the Cedar Creek Mall.

Fridays activities will start around noon at Harley Davidson of Wausau. The registration tent will be open from 12-8 p.m. for people to register and pick up their goody bag. We will be serving food and beverages throughout the day. We will have live entertainment starting with comedian Sean Morey at 6:30pm and The Sociables starting at 8:00pm. Your registration to the ride includes these bands.

Again this year, you will have an opportunity to start riding already on Friday. We will have a poker run starting from Harley Davidson of Wausau. This is where you can register for the poker run. You must be registered for the MDA ride to participate in the poker run. It will be an additional $5 donation to MDA, and there will be cash prizes for the winners. You will have Friday and Saturday to complete the poker run. We will have some bars to the north, south, east, and west of Wausau. Saturdays ride will head to the east, so maybe Friday you can get some of the bars and then get the rest of them on Saturday. Or you can get them all on Friday and enjoy the ride on Saturday. You can also choose to just start the poker run on Saturday and meet up with everyone at the “after ride party” which will be held back at Harley Davidson of Wausau.

We will have about 10 stops for the poker run, all the stops will need to be made to get your name entered for the cash drawings. There will also be 2 bonus stops to help your chances of winning. Your poker run cards will need to be turned in at Harley Davidson of Wausau by 8:00 p.m. Saturday night. After all the cards are turned in we will announce the winners during the intermission of the band. You need not be present to accept your prize. Just include your name and number for us in case you might be a winner.

Saturdays activities will start with registration from 7-9:30 a.m. at Harley Davidson of Wausau. Coffee and donuts from Kwik Trip will be available while supplies last. Breakfast food will also be served by the Rib Mountain Lions. We will then have a short gathering and then start the ride after our National Anthem. We will leave as a group from Harley Davidson of Wausau and head towards our first stop. Our ride will have one stop in Wittenberg before going to Mohican North Star casino for lunch. After the casino there will be three other stops available, then the “after ride party” where we will have two great acts at Harley Davidson of Wausau. Be sure to be back at Harley Davidson of Wausau around 6 p.m. Your entry to the MDA ride will also get you in for the live entertainment at Harley Davidson. Food and drinks will also be available there. During the intermission of the band we will do the drawings for the door prizes and the 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle raffle. You need not be present to win, just remember to put your name and phone number on your tickets.

With all these different things to do, I hope I am able to please just about everybody, because I know it is impossible to please everyone. This way people can ride on Friday, then come back to Harley to listen to Sean Morey and The Sociables. Or you can start the ride on Saturday with everyone, go to the Mohican Northstar Casino for lunch, then ride at your own pace and your own group size.

You’re not going to want to miss this years entertainment at Harley Davidson of Wausau. Friday night is a comedian from L.A. He is Sean Morey. He is best known for “The Man’s Song” After Sean Morey, we will have the great Southern Rock band from Milwaukee “The Sociables” They have opened for Molly Hatchet, and have played on the main stage at Summerfest, an excellent biker favorite. And Saturday we will be rockin with the great Vic Ferrari Band. Public welcome for all the entertainment.
